3 YA Books or Series that would do great on Netflix

We know that Netflix and other streaming services are obsessed with creating movies and TV shows of YA books, so I have compiled a list of Young Adult Books that would be great on Netflix.

  1. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Series

This series is just dying to be watched. Between its superb plot, fantastic cast of characters and plot twists, this would make such a good TV show or movie. I have no idea who would play any of the characters but the plot itself lends itself to be a great movie script, complete with interviews and college submissions. PLEASE! Someone get this in a writers room right this instance!

2. Legend by Marie Lu

I mean, come on, a book series that takes place during a pandemic? A few years ago, I was obsessed with this series, and I need this to be a TV show or movie. Again, the plot was so so so good, and as a society, I’ve noticed we really like science fiction. This has all the parts that make a story fantastic.

3. We are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson

At 15 years old, this book wrecked me. Now, 7 years later, I still think about it. It’s a beautiful story about a boy who must decide if the world is worth saving. It’s also features an LGBT couple front and center. This reminds me of They Both Die in the End but it’s 10 times better (In my opinion). Everyone should read this book, but a filmed version would make my little gay heart so happy.

My Favorite Book Buying Spots

Let’s face it. Books are expensive. Reading is an expensive hobby. So today, I would like to share some places that I buy books that are a little less expensive than Barnes and Noble (I hate their pricing, grrr).

Thrift Stores

I have found many good books while shopping at thrift stores. There are usually a million books to sort through if you step into any thrift store, so it might take a minute to get used to what they have, but once you recognize a deal, you are right on track. I would recommend having a “thrift day” where you can go to different stores, this way there’s a larger selection.

What have I bought at thrift stores?

  1. The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah for $.50
  2. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng for $2

Little Free Libraries

Where I live, there are upwards of 20 little free libraries. And I always stop to check what is there. Sometimes, I find nothing, but other times I find complete gems. And these are FREE! And when I am done with a book, or don’t want to keep it, I can give it to a library on my way to work, to get coffee or to class. I definitely recommend seeing if your city has these.

What have I found at little free libaries?

  1. The Four Winds by Kristen Hannah
  2. The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory
  3. The Berenstain Bears books (with both English and Spanish text inside)

Book of the Month

I feel like this subscription box might be over-talked about, but I love it. Each month I get to pick a book that releases in that month and I receive a hard cover of it, for only $10. In my opinion, this is a great deal, and I find myself looking forward to getting my email with selections. Plus, if you use my link, we both get a little surprise. Click the link below for it!
